Anyone have the Renthal Fat Bars?  What are the benefits over the normal race bars?  Is it purely for comfort, or are they designed to perform better for a certain type of riding ie: Trails, FMX?

Get the Pro Taper 1 1/8 bars. They are hands down the best bars on the market. The big bars take a beating when the bike is crashed. If you bend Pro Tapers big bars you are in bad shape.

Pro tapers on mine too. Also have 1" spacers uner the mounts to get them up a little to fit my 6'2" frame.

I agree Pro-Tapers are the Strongest bars out there, but beware if you run a solid mount triple clamp and take a good dive, the bars are so strong something else might bend or break. In my case it ended up being a twisted triple clamp and a broken steering stop. I've been running Fat bars with rubber mounted bar clamps now and haven't had any issues with crashes other than having to push the bars back straight after a crash.
The rubber cones get wasted after a few crashes but they are cheap and easy to replace.

I have 1 inchers on mine along with a scotts. The spacers came from the local hardware store. I forget what they were listed as but they had a set screw in them. Found them on top of the nut and bolt section where they keep stuff like J nuts, clevis pins, and the like.
