Hi guys and gals
I’m new on here, first post so be gentle, although I’ve read loads on here prior to joining as a little confused by Kawasaki vin number meanings.
Every decoder and forum site say that in the 17 digit vin, character 10 represents the year, right, we’ll doesn’t seem to be the case unless I’m missing something?
I bought my son a used KX65 which he loves and the seller said it was a 2008 model but the chassis had been powder coated. I razored away the powder coat to get this vin
JKBKX065AAA010974
Engine number
KX065AE000490
Now from ALL the vin decoders and forum posts this would look like a 2010 right as the 10th character is an “A”? I’ve received reports from all the top bike vin decoders dating 2010, However the Kawasaki parts finder says it’s a 2001 which has left me confused and a tad annoyed as paid over the top it would seem.
Can anyone shed some light please? I’ve tried the Kawasaki website and their vin checker is down
Thank you in advance
Jared.
