Went Riding yesterday also
« on: November 12, 2005, 09:01:14 AM »
HAd a big ride on yesterday. Over 1200 bikes and riders. Caos at the start but as the day went on the feild split up a bit. 3 tracks each a little over 30 miles round trip. 2 having special sections for advanced riders only. Started the ride at 10 am and did the "Skyline track" wich was good at the start with some nice easy riverbed work followed by some good rolling grassy farmland. Then it was all on with deep bogs nasty hillclimbs that seemed to go on to the sky and absoluty wreck ya forearms. Great veiws from the tops tho. Down the other side with a few special stages and back to the carpark for lunch by 11 45am.
The next track was the Tussock. Fast start, then things turned to crap. Deeper bogs every where with no other way round. Teaming rain started making the situation Very awkward. Heaps of people getting stuck big time and stacks of bikes parked up helping riders get thier bikes unstuck from the quagmires. I nver had too much trouble getting through them with my near new Metzlers and a healthy handfull of the ol right hand.
Got very cold and wet by the end of the day. We had to give the last track a miss due to the organisers closing the tracks early due to the loss of traction just about every where over the course. Good ride otherwise, very challenging indead. Kx500 rules.

Those pictures make me wish I would have started my winter project later and not this week. I can't turn back now bike is torn down.
