My son (just turning 15) and I are taking on a rebuild project. Basically bought a box of parts. Bike had been stripped down and frame repainted. Said the engine was 'blown' and had the new Weisco piston top end kit all ready. Said he didn't have time to reassemble.
By the VIN its a 1991 KX80. Seems in good shape.
So looking for help and fun working with this forum.
The cylinder looks to be sleeved and is 48mm bore. It seems the exhaust flange is broken. It looks like it may have been soldered/welded at one point, but one piece is missing for sure.
The flat mating surface where the pipe would mate looks to be smooth as does the port into the cylinder. My question, is this going to be ok or is there a way to connect the pipe if the hole where the spring is missing is gone? Am I stuck finding a new cylinder?
