87 KDX200 Auto Clutch?
« on: January 31, 2019, 06:01:10 PM »
I think an air cooled 87KDX 200 with a modern front set of forks and an auto clutch perhaps the radius from Rekluse would be a great hassle free fun  and reliable bike in the woods.

Questions if I may.....

1.  Does the 87 KDX 200 share the same clutch basket as the KX 125?
2.  If so (or not) what year does the KDX clutch basket part number go up until through the newer models,  and what years are they interchangeable?

2008 FE650 (KX500 but with manners and E-Start)
2003 KX500 Scares me! (Reminded me I couldn’t ride well)
1997 TE610 Arm chair! (Made me think I could ride)
2000 CT110 Fun!
1986 KDX200 SOLD! (But looking for another)
1970 AG100 Still makes me 😀

As much as I love this site, I think this might be better answered here: https://kdxrider.net/forums/.  These guys live and breathe the KDX, and they would be able to tell you what years will interchange, etc.  I know there was a guy on that site that put modern Yamaha forks on an 88, and really liked it.  It was a slick looking bike too.  If you get answers over there and get your project going, just make sure and post your results and progress over here though.
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?
