I watched Evel, I'll be watching Pastrami .....  8-)
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

The way it should be!...you hear about these guys doing these incredibly long insane jumps, which are cool and all, but they're on modern motocross bikes with tons of suspension.
Evel did all his jumps on heavy bikes, sportin a meer 4", maybe 5" of travel...that takes a "special" kind of balls to even think of such stunts.
I bow down to Pastrana for choosing to do these on an Indian!!...I don't know/remember anyone else tryin to replicate Evel's jumps on a bike similar to the one he did them on.

True! I watch flat track and the Indians are dominating the sport! Spanking all the new Harleys'. I did a little flat track back in the 70's. My best friend in high school back then was #2 Blue Plate (same as red plate now days) in Central California. On the mile tracks these guys were 100 mph plus into the corners! A high side get off was a disaster and usually ended your season... if you were lucky!

Can't imagine what's going through his head just before going for it.  Has to be an insane amount of adrenalin.

Is anyone else reminded of the scene from Oceans 13 where Basher distracts Willie Bank by dressing up as Fender Rhodes?

"I'm talking heavy bikes sir.  This is heavy bikes.  Fender Rhodes is a, "plays flute", I'm a bleeping American Icon."

"You gonna jump?"

"I'm jumping baby!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-SunVV74qU

The funny thing is Bank mentions making one phone call and getting Pastrana and friends to preform.  Basher calls them, "a bunch of long hairs on rice rockets".  Now Pastrana has cut his hair and is riding a heavy bike.  Bank can have both.   :-D
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?

I will say the skill level of the guys that jump is WAY above what it was back then I will also say it is because they jump over and over with lighter bikes with longer suspension. That said, jumping with a pig (yes, I said it...) of a bike with little suspension will be, let's just say,,, 'intense'.
I saw Evil every time he came to Kent Pacific Raceways/SIR/Pacific Raceways. He made it every time but received some damage. One time he walked back up the landing ramp to talk safety after landing hard. Turned out he broke his pelvis/hip and the frame of the bike on the landing. Dang!
