2011 Yamaha forks/front end on a 2001 KX500?
« on: September 12, 2016, 12:18:27 AM »
I have a line on 2011 Yamaha forks, front wheel, and brake system. Will the forks slip into the triple clamps on my 2001 KX500?

Thanks.

I don't have any details.... other then he used a late model yz450f fork set.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

I have 08 yz forks on my 90 k5 and I used the yz triples had to modify the steering stem from the k5 to work in the yz triples , I love the forks and can say the swap was very well worth the effort (not much effort) handling , tracking etc is far better imo . as for the fitment into your 01 triples just measure diameter's

I have the complete front end from an 08 YZ450F.  The OEM steering stem has been pressed out of the YZF bottom clamp.  What modifications are required to the stock 04 KX500 steering stem to make the YZF triple clamp and SSS forks work on the KX frame?

i see mxa magazine test new kx250f 17 and claim the new showa sff tac forks will give the kyb sss a run for there money , all stock suspension can be improved , look at the showa air fork , put a spring conversion in it and revalve to suit and it great , and the best thing is it slips straight in a k5 triples clamps , lighter as well, the std k5 forks are ok if you gold valve them to suit your needs with the correct springs for your weight and use skf seals for less friction they will do the job ,

I purchased a steering stem from Emig.  Pressed it in to the YZ 450F triple clamp and bolted the entire front end onto my 04 500.  The KX 500 steering stop needs to be modified to make sufficient contact with the lower triple clamp with this setup.
