Hello

Hi everyone !   I am the proud owner of a 04kx500. I bought an old cr250 a few years ago and it was starting to seem slow. so I had a insane idea to get a 500, luckily only Kawasaki still made them and I was able to get one. The dealer tried hard to talk me out of this bike but I was insistant. I am 49 years old and It hurts real bad when I fall, I was bulletproof when I was 18,lol.    I do not race, but when I trail ride I pass every quad and bike there is. I guess in my mind I think I am a racer and leading a national race. Watch out Charmicheal and Stewart.  This forum has helped me immensly, hopefully with your help I can learn how to get my suspension dialed in and learn how to ride better.  I really love this bike, the feeling of big power is great!    John

Jonniespeed:

I love the power of my '04 K5 also. I'm in your age bracket, 48. I would say we are going thru our mid life crisis, but we're going to live to 150 yes? On the Charmicheal thing. I've raced him and blew his number plates off his bike. Then my wife woke me up "come on honey you fell asleep on the couch again, go to bed". Check out the gallery, my album is on page 6.

Mods??  Nothern Michigan has lots of sand, so I use Dunlop 773 tires. A GPR stabilizer really makes a big difference for high speed handling in sand. Michigan law requires a spark arrester, so I use a Pro Circut 296 unit and it works well. I have a DID x-ring chain because it doesnt need adjusting. I added a Pro Moto Billet kickstand because trees are not placed in the right spots.Moose lighting coil ,Acerbis numberplate/lights to warn all oncoming traffic ( that is important here) Pro Taper bars cause I got tired of replacing bars after every little fall. The flywheel weight ( like training wheels)  is off for good. Now I am ready for more power, so I will begin with the reed spacer. I also have a IMS big tank and moose fender bag.
