Site Feedback
« on: May 19, 2017, 07:48:02 AM »
I am looking for feedback and input on any changes you guys would like to see to the site. Danger, Sandblaster, and I are trying to organize some beneficial information to make it easier to find, and it made me think that maybe other changes are in order. Who better to ask than the experts?  Let me know what you would like to see changed.
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?

Soft ice cream machine?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

I like the layout of the site
Search function works very well

Probably just need more new members with fresh ideas/
Need a few detailed engine builds etc

Are you working on anything fun?  I will be trying to find another bike to flip after we get the KDX Hybrid sold.  Maybe something that needs a lot of work.

I would be patient, especially with specialized questions, as it sometimes takes just the right person to answer your question.  If that person has not been on the site in a while, you may have a question go unanswered for a bit.  I saw your question on the 87 subframe.  Dave916 or Sandblaster would be good people to ask about it.  Both gentlemen are very experienced in the 500, and have really helped me with my 88 motor conversion.  They are super nice guys to boot.  Try sending them a quick direct message.  One more thing to remember: Most people tend to stay in the 85-88 or 89 and up families, as not many of the engine parts will swap over, so you will need to find somebody who has tried the swap out of necessity or curiosity before. Hope that helps.

I answered the questions on the sub frame.
We use to have several people on this site that no longer visit.
I don't know why, it's a cool site.
The only bummer is not hosting pics which make it harder for the average guy to post pics.
To make it better what else could be done?
I have no idea....
The groups on Facebook are exploding with members..
I am a member of many groups and forums and admittedly spend most of my extra time there.
The problem with them is after a short period of time hard data is almost impossible to find.
So I save hard data on my own site.
When someone needs tech info I post a link...
It saves a lot of typing.
I do try to visit here every day as this was the first site I discovered specific to the KX500 and I received a lot of deeper info on what makes the KX500 tick. But I don't always try to answer every question as there are still a lot of good guys that can answer and I'm spread a little thin :-)

Hiya KXRiders.com
You asked for some feedback and this way I can kill two birds with one stone, because you also said it would be nice to see some new members. Well, I got a KX500 a month or two back and have already had some of my questions answered here through google. But of course I couldn't then search the site or view some of the pictures.
I'm an English bloke living in Mexico and I asked a guy who has a motorcycle repair shop if he knew of a 2 stroke motorcycle I could buy. I've had everything from Lambrettas to classic Triumphs/Triton etc., but this time round need something (reasonably) easy to work on as I lack tools, money and space. The KX was the first 2 stroke he offered me and it sounded "interesting" so I bought it. I don't ever expect to use anywhere near its potential as I'm in my 50s.
So, that's me. As I say, the site looks perfect for me with a ton of questions to ask although I was a car mechanic back in the early 80s so am not a total naif. You probably won't be overjoyed to hear it's an '87 but I think a lot of, if not the whole engine, has been changed. Jonnie

Dear Sir, I have read this but am still unable to post the new topic. Would you be able to help me? I'm not sure where it should go exactly either, and believe you might have to "OK" it first.
I can send you my idea via personal message, I have worked that one out and have sent one to a member who might be able to answer some specific questions. Perhaps you could help me make a start. Thank you. Jonnie
