Ok... Here's a quickie update.
The bike runs amazing.
Jetting was tough due to the unusually small jet sizes required with this exact set up.
In fact I'm waiting for more jets to come in..
In the mean time I have prepped another carb just to be safe
I have a few loose ends to tie up but nothing major.
The graphics should be here later this week or early next.
I won't be able to post any pics until after the magazine comes out from here on out
I have 4 gallons of fuel ran through it so it could be ready in a few hours once I get the graphics here.
Right now we are waiting for Daryl (MXA Editor) to give us a exact time and date for the photo shoot and test ride.
It's getting very exciting...

Nice! When will you be able to post the dyno results and details? Do we have to wait the the magazine to hit the stands for those as well?

Likely, you will have to wait for the magazine...
Sorry...

It's more than 50 and less than 100  :-o

How about you start a guessing pool?  Closest one to the actual number wins nothing but bragging rights.  First one to guess the number gets it.
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?

03 KX 250/88 KX 525/2017 KX250F - Goliath
17 KX250F/04 KX250
04 KX 250 - Lunchbox's Bike

I'd like to cause it's a good idea... but we gotta wait..
Sorry...

It's not crazy but again respectable.
I built it for a MX track not a desert sled, hill climber, or drag bike..
So it has great torque over a wide RPM range.
I could have bumped up the compression quite a bit to gain more bottom but I didn't know if the e-start would handle it.
I'm at about 14:1 right now and it spins with no issues.
I think I could have gone to 15.5:1 but I don't have time to mess with it so I'll run what I have..

Did you play with the timing at all? I'm at around 14.5:1 with 220psi cranking pressure and have tried full retard, advance and a few between. I'm only doing seat of the pants evals but I can tell a big difference between them. Retarding it mellows the low and mid but gives it some up top.  Since it's also a trail setup with high compression, I have opted to stay with a slight advance. The problem is with that much compression plus some advance,  I have to really raise the octane. Especially since I'm running the STIC in a 38mm Air Stryker. Anything less than 102 really pings in the midrange.  I wished we could get a programmable timing device to work on this ignition system to get the best of both worlds!

Not on this one.
Believe me it is very strong as is and for the intended purpose.
After the build off is done I will make a few changes to the engine so that It will run well for desert and dunes.
Then again it runs good for that right now... It will just be even better :-)

If your at Sea level and have 220psi cylinder pressure then your compression ratio is a bit higher than you think.
If you are above sea level, it's even higher again.
At sea level your compression ratio is closer to 15:1

The Stic is getting great reviews.
I almost bought one for this but I have invented enough for now  :-o

At some point in the future I will run a KX250 ignition system with carb and a programmable CDI.
It's been done before and I hear the results are very good.

Just switching to the stock KX250 ignition and carb makes a huge difference.
Not much of a HP difference (Without moving the timing) but makes the system very, very smooth..

Continuing to experiment with the Turbo crank and showing remarkable numbers..
We will be talking more and more about them after this whole build off is done..

Yeah the STIC made the throttle response almost too much for trail riding.  It also seemed to help up top. You really gave to play with the jetting and end up going at least +10 on the main. I'm at 190 now  and considering trying a 192 to try and help with this ragged edge midrange ping. I've fattened the needle and raised it as much as possible
How much work is involved installing the 250 ignition? Is it stator, flywheel and programmable cdi?
