KX 500 AFC issues
« on: March 19, 2017, 09:46:03 PM »
Hi guys

I am from South Africa and got a KX500 motor that I want to build into a Aluminium frame. Hope someone can help me. I was looking online and my motor looks diffrent. My intake manifold bolts with 4 bolts. I need a intake manifold where the boot is at an angle that will alow my carb to go around my rear shock, rather than straight into it... Can someone advise me if another bike's intake manifold would work! Maybe a straight fit?

i'll try to post some pics. I am new to this...

what year KX500 motor is it? mine is an '85 and has 4 bolts on the intake manifold (4 corners)...I believe the newer motors all have the 6 bolt configuration but i'll let the pro's chime in on that...

Thanks! That helps! Then mine is also a 1985 model. 4 courners. Rectangular shape. Without KIPS on the barrel . Did you have to make a custom bracket to connect it to the carb?

my application is completely different to yours. I'm running the stock frame but modifying it to make a road racer. I have a large silicone 90° hose coming off the back of the stock carb and then a Uni Filter off of that hose. someone else may better accompany your question here.
