"Shut Down" ????
« on: August 13, 2005, 06:53:59 AM »
I don?t know if it makes any difference or not.
But I try and turn my fuel switch off about 100 yards or so just before I turn the bike off.
The thought is, to try and keep so much gas from sitting in the carb till the next ride.
Do any of you guys have any ?shut down? tricks????? :?

How long do you let the bike sit before next ride :?: If the bike is going to sit longer than a month I would think about using fuel stabilizer every time you mix your fuel. I think you won't get all the fuel out of the carb just buy turning off the valve and riding it back ot the truck. Their will still be enough fuel residue left in the carb to decay and leave fuel varnish. If your bike is only sitting for 1,2,3 weeks at a time you have nothing to worry about.

106+ is a bit to worm for me, but it's just mostly for 2/3 weeks....

I rekon that fuel stabiliser is a good move either way. I add a splash when mixing up the fuel. Cheap and has a lot of benefits. $0.02

I also put fuel stabilizer in every can of gas. I use the same fuel mix (94 Chevron 60:1 MC-1) in everthing I have, minibikes, outboard, chainsaw, weedwacker etc.  With the stabilizer I don't have to worry about draining carbs over the winter.  Mine typically sit for 6 months over the winter and then fire right up in the spring. Saves a bit of seasonal work, winterizing and unwinterizing. Cam.
