Tail pipe vs rear tire
« on: August 15, 2016, 04:43:49 PM »
This isn't a post where I bitch about my back tire. Not in the same sense as I have been known to. Besides I have found the toughest rear tire to date. The Bridgestone "battle cRoss" x40 h/t. Believe it or not , and I do. the maxxis desert I/t is second best. I almost did one of those new Australian Motoz tractionator hybrid trials / Moto-X rears. Maybe next time. Or if I could find a dual sport I like in a 19". One of my k5's, the '98 has an 18" rear and the '95 has the 19" rear. That's how o got em. And the '95 I got new in '97 from coos bay cycle when I fried my '91 kx 250's stator wiring at the Florence dunes. I have a good motorcycle vs fish scales and eagle story some other time about Florence dunes.but any way coos bay cycle didn't have the stator replacement so I bought my first 500 there. Ok enough about what this post isn't about. Onto the reason I'm posting. QUESTION: am I the only rider that experiences having to come up with a mod to keep my rear knobbies away from the silencer housing? It's not hitting it hard not is it that frequent . But it's obvious that occasionally the rear edge knobbies are garfing it up and it can't be a good thing . I don't notice when it happens because it's not at all enough to know when it's happening. On my k'5 with the 19" rear I have a pro circuit factory sound 304 stainless. And the other with the 18" rear has the stock silencer on it. Strangely enough the 18" and stock silencer are hitting more frequently than the 19". I bent that mount hinge ( or whatever it's called) that holds on the end most part of the silencer on both . But it still seems like it has to be moved more. I got my spacers in my axle correctly and I've got good pressure in my rear shock. Bearings just replaced on one of the rear hubs ( I forget which. But both rear from the motor are tight all the way. Is this something I have to just keep bending till it breaks? Or has somebody come up with the solution I've overlooked? Thanks for your help.
hell ,i,m so broke . if it cost a nickle to take a s**t, id have to puke.....

just use washers between the frame and the exhaust hanger...as spacers. You may need a longer bolt, depending how many washers you end up using, but you should be able to comfortably push the silencer out away from the tire a 1/2" using 5 or 6 washers.

it is a common thing, others have mentioned it, and started threads on it in the past.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

a small piece of stainless tubing would do the trick too.

Something like that I was planning on the inner race of one of those blown out mono shock linkage bearings
