Giant Loop Gas Bladder - Anyone tried this?
« on: January 15, 2017, 05:02:40 AM »
Dirt Rider did a write up on this 1 gallon gas bladder by Giant Loop, and they seemed to like it a lot.  I was thinking for long distance rides, or regular K5 rides it would be very handy.  They slipped one of the big loops over their fender and tied the other end down using the loops on the top.  Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here has tried one and what they thought of it.

Dirt Rider did mention you could strap it to your backpack/hydration pack as well.  Not sure how I feel about having fuel strapped to me, but it would work I guess.

Less better then turning into a charred  Hannibal Lecter steak.
The 2-smoke runs deep in this one...

My wife and I were looking at that bladder since we do some longer rides. I can squeak about 60 or so miles out of my 3 gallon tank on my 500. We currently use quart canteens and a jug called an enduro jug that was made by Maier. It holds 2 quarts.

My main reservations about this are how to mount it, and how tough it is. Dirt Rider mounted it on the back fender, but it was a bit awkward because it laid off the seat kind of on the side panel. If I could figure out how to mount it safely, I think the toughness wouldn't be as much of an issue to worry about.
