1992 KX250 filter element holder interchangeability
« on: July 07, 2016, 02:55:53 AM »
Hello two-smokers!  I am new here and I have my first question if anyone is willing... I just got my hands on 1992 KX250, with no air filter element holder...  The part is discontinued at the dealer and I was wondering (hoping) if anyone could tell me if an element holder from another machine could be used...  I tried the search function and was unsuccessful,  maybe I'm just a dope....
Thank you in advance!
Tim

If you are asking about the cage it FITS 91-05 KX125, 91-07 KX250 - 13091-1708
From the 2 sites I checked it is still available.
So either I'm confused or... your dealer is...  :-o

Thank you Sandblaster!!
The part # I found on the parts diagram was 13091-1785.  The dealer also found the same number.  I scoured the net net looking for information about another basket that will also fit with no luck.  I trust your judgement given your history here . I will order the 13091-1708.
And by the way...  I'm definitely confused.  I didn't realize that I may have a tough time finding parts for this bike.  The great deal I thought I got on the bike,  becomes less greatl every time i press the "order" button.  :-)
Thx again!

Now I'm even more confused.  I checked out a few sources to order the cage.  All of which say is fits a 91' and 94' thru 07'.  No 92' or 93'...
With all due respect,  I'm not sure whether or not to order it.  Do you know if will fit from personal experience?
Thank you in advance!...

Something else just occurred to me...
There should be some numbers on the airbox to carb rubber boot.
If the box is from a 92 it should be 1508
If the box is from a 93 it should be 1570
Can you confirm?

I have not..  I was about to.  The problem is everywhere I look 13091-1785 is unavailable,  even on eBay.  I was hoping to find something,  even from a different bike that could work,  if someone has done that before.  I'm not afraid to "make it work" if I have to.  Just looking for a starting point....
Thx Sandblaster!

I came across that one too...  I checked the VIN and it came up a 92'...  It doesn't mean the rest of the bike is as you know.  I don't know much about the bike,  I've only had it since last saturday.  My first Kawasaki,  my first two stroke.  I'll check the boot when I get home and reply.
Thx alot man!

I can confirm that the number is 1508...  With 211 right next to it.  Any ideas?
Thx,

Other then buying the one on ebay I'm out of suggestions.
I looked at the filters, the mounts, and other air box parts and they are very year specific for 92-93.
Sorry buddy.

Hey Sandblaster!
The filter cage came in the other day and it fits like a glove.  I believe we found the only one that would fit on the entire internet.  F-ing A!
New front brake pads, new front caliper boots, new grips,  fresh Amsoil for the trans,  new washer and nut to hold the kickstart lever on,  and now,  filter cage and fresh filter.....  She'll be ready to rip this weekend!
Thanks again for your help!  I will try to pay it forward whenever I can!
Tim
