Hmmmm.... This lever is about 1/2" longer then the KX500 lever...

And it looks like all I need is a bushing for the pivot point...

Hmmmmm....  :-o

I saw that you have a KX450 wheel on the 500, what did it take to make that work? Or was it a direct replacement? What year was it from and what year is your 500? Thanks!

I saw that you have a KX450 wheel on the 500, what did it take to make that work?

It requires 2 kx450 to kx500 rear wheel adapters made by Warp 9 Racing.

Or was it a direct replacement?

Nope. The kx500 uses a 20mm rear axle and the 450 uses a 25mm rear axle.
You need these from Warp 9 Racing

What year was it from and what year is your 500?

Between a 89 and 03, I have a hodge podge of different year parts on mt bike.
I even have some 98 kx250 and 06-15 KX450f parts on it
But what you really want to know is what year rear wheels....
KX500 88-04
KX450F 06-15

Thanks!

Your welcome.

I've been looking for some spare wheels here and there. What makes the wheels comparable? I found some YZ rims and the rear has the same 20mm axle, different sprocket/disc bolt patterns, same disc OD, the only difference is the KX is 130mm from bearing to bearing and the YZ is 131mm. Think they'd be compatible? Or am I better off looking into the warp 9 adapters?

You can switch several X brand 20mm rear wheels with the kx by simply changing the spacers.
If it were me though I would just get the adapters and call it good.
Cheap and easy..

There aren't any as far as I know.
So, buy a KX250f rear brake pedal (Any year through 2015), Press some 12mm ID x 16mm OD x 10mm long Oil Impregnated Bronze bushings in it, Ream the ID back to 12mm (They have a tendency to tighten up after pressing) and go ride it...
