Return to a child hood riding spot
« on: March 29, 2016, 03:26:26 PM »
One of my favorite riding places as a kid was sold a last year, and I didn't think I would get a chance to ride it again.  Luckily for me, we were able to get access to a nice sized chunk of the area to ride on.  It was my 15 (now 16, pray for me) year old son's spring break, so we decided to visit my parents and drag my dad out for a ride.  The area we got access to is about 20% of the old area, but is still almost 2,000 acres of trails, fire roads, rig roads, and logging roads.  It includes some really nice elevation changes, including this panoramic view of the area:

Here are all the bikes parked at the top:

There is an old strip pit that we rode to the top of.  It's definitely going to get more attention next ride.  It has some great climbs that are on the other side from the water.

We ended up riding 22 miles, which is quite a ride for my 71 year old dad.  We had a blast, and got the bikes really muddy:

The next day we completed our redneck fest with a little target shooting.  Anyone ever shot a slide fire?  This is a thirty round magazine emptied in 6 seconds:

Here is my son shooting it:

We also shot some tannerite exploding targets.  I got this one from 75 yards with iron sites.

We had a blast, and made some wonderful memories with my dad.
