89-04 cases
« on: December 25, 2015, 03:35:39 AM »
Does anyone know where I can locate a new set of cases for 89-04 kx500? Kawasaki parts house and partzilla emailed and said that they are discontinued. Thanks for any help.

I have two more sets ordered one from Midwest action and one from powersports warehouse. Maybe I'll get lucky.

I ordered a set of cases from Rocky Mountain Atv yesterday and just received a call from them. They said they should have it the second week of February. The guy I spoke to said it shouldn't be a problem. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If the other two places come through also I may end up with three sets.

Kawasaki parts house was the first place I tried with no luck. Partzilla, MidWest Action, Powersports warehouse have all cancelled my orders and have said discontinued. Rocky Mountain Atv are the only ones still saying they can get them. I have the feeling they may cancel as well as the person I called didn't call to check the availability like the other places did.

Wonder how Service Honda is still sourcing the cases they are using? I would think they have some stocked I'm going to call them and see if they would let a few sets go.

I called Service Honda and the lady I spoke to told me to order it online and if they couldn't get them they would refund my money. I ordered a set. I guess this is my last chance for a new set(Other than RMAtv still pending). If this doesn't work i guess i'll have to repair mine again.

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Service Honda said discontinued also. I found a place called Consolidated Motor Spares (www.cmsnl.com) in the Netherlands that seem like a good source. Their website says they update their website inventory every 24 hours so if it's listed there is a good chance they have it. I ordered a set and with shipping to North Carolina cost was approximately $780. My cases are definitely repairable but now it's the challenge of finding a hidden cache somewhere. Cases are supposed to ship 01-18-16 so now we wait and see.

Rocky Mountain ATV called 01-16-16 and said cases have been discontinued. Consolidated Motor Spares just responded and said the cases are no longer available. Has anyone perfected the Ktm hydraulic clutch mod yet? My cases were damaged in the sprocket area so that may be the way I go.

Maybe now is the time to buy a motor or two and put them away for later.  It sounds like the 500 is going to get more and more scarce, and even if Kawasaki starts making two strokes again it probably won't make a 500.  I think I may try to get one to store, I'm starting to really love my 525.
