Electrics may dominate by then... But if I can still ride by then I'll still be on my Smoker.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Well said. to be honest though i cant ever see electric bikes taking over the majority. An engine between our legs isnt that why we love dirtbikes to begin with?

KTM, Yamaha, Husky are still going strong on two strokes, and the other manufacturers are still producing smaller class 2T's....as far as "development", you'd think there's really not a whole lot more they can do to fine tune them, besides adding EFI, changing dimensions in head and port design, or going to an e-tech design...but, if they can find a way to improve them, they will.
I've been wanting to see a 100hp on/off road 4T in a basic mx style chassis for years...but those chances are slim, at least over the next decade.
Then there's sled industry, where Ski-Doo is leading the 2T and 4T industry with it's super clean burning E-Tech motors, and ACE 4T motors. All the sled manufacturers are still pouring money into their 2T development...and Arctic Cat has been playing around with turbo's on their 177hp 1100cc 4T's for several years now...which is something else I would love to see on that 100hp on/off road I mentioned earlier...(nice to dream).
Luckily, there hasn't been very much talk at all about electric sleds yet.

I've said it before..."with any luck...hopefully I'll be long dead and decayed before the day comes, that I have no choice but to ride an electric bike/sled!"
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ
