KX250 gearing
« on: September 03, 2015, 11:56:49 PM »
Looking for some info on the best gearing for my 98 KX250..not sure whats on it just now as im not with the bike but was horrified yesterday when my son overtook me on his YZ80...i was flat out and he flew past me!!!
Looking to gear the bike so it has better top end rather than flat out in 4 seconds lol.

sounds like you could easily drop 3 sizes on the rear sprocket....
you could try going up one on the front, but that may not be enough without dropping the rear 2 sizes as well...
definitely post what your current gearing is once you get a chance to check it.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

I have a new JT 48 tooth I got with a KX250 I am never going to use. Keep that in mind if you would like to buy one. $20 shipped in continental USA.

You could fit up perhaps a 2002 transmission. 4th and 5th gear are taller than the 94-98 gears.
