To bad it's for some industrial application
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

I read another article that addressed that very issue.  They said that if it works well in industrial applications, it would be more likely to trickle down into other areas.  I'm just encouraged that the "four stroke only" company is looking at two stroke design again.  I keep thinking the Japanese have realized they need the two stroke to be successful.  Something KTM already knows.

The real shame is none of them can look @ a place like service Honda. You got guys shelling out $$$ for old tech big bores if anyone brought just a super sized modern 250 to 500  engine you couldn't keep them stock .

20 years of parts supply is getting real close to the end of the run.
if I only had a pair, I could actually ride this thing

I think the dual sport market would go crazy for a bigger (350 cc +) DI two stroke.  Light, fast, and kick ass in the dirt.

It still surprises me that Sherco (France), Gas Gas and Beta (Spain), and KTM (Austria) can build bikes and import them into this country and we don't have one domestic dirt bike manufacturer.  We can make ATVs and UTVs, but no dirt bikes.  It's kind of sad really, none of those European countries are industrial powerhouses or anything.

it's even sader that norway produced a dirtbike (tempo cross) but had to stop in the 60's i can only imagene what it could have been,

however isn't atk still making bikes?

Their website only lists street bikes anymore, and those say 2014 models.

About all you can get from American "manufacturers" is Chinese made stuff.  Pitster Pro makes a decent little bike, but they don't have a big bike program.  Unless you count this bike that looks to be a Honda knock off.  It looks like they are having trouble getting them in the country, it still says "available November 2013".
