1993 KX 250 Build
« on: July 16, 2015, 01:13:12 PM »
Hey guys, I'm starting a 1993 KX 250 Garage Queen build. I have quite a few Kawis in my shop already, but just recently got into building/restoration when I found the last bike my dad ever had (1980 KDX 175) and did a full restoration. After seeing how well it turned out, I decided to go after the first bike I ever wanted, the 93 KX 250. I have ordered the frame, subframe, gas tank, air box, seat, forks, swingarm, and FSM from fleabay. Here she is as it sits so far...

I will be ready to start painting as soon as the subframe shows up, but will probably be asking for a lot of help sourcing some of the harder to find parts, but my first two issues are the forks:

I need recommendations for a good shop to re-anodize them. Also the airbox is not in the best shape and from what I'm seeing on the used market there aren't many that look to be in very good shape. As far as I know, there are no companies that make reproductions, correct?

Also, does anyone have pics of the OEM handlebar pad from a '93? I looked in the FSM and they didn't even picture a handlebar pad.
