Need parts/Help finding
« on: July 04, 2015, 11:35:54 AM »
Ok, here we go... I am doing a frame up build . There seems to be not that much stuff available. I am building a sand bike, so everything is polished and powdered. Who specializes in these for aftermarket parts and pieces?.The engine is done, I have already figured that part out. I want frame guards, bar mounts for big bars, black plastic, carb boot for big carbs, How wide of a back wheel can I fit? I have been lurking on here but not getting where I need to be. Is that Zip Ty racing still around
thanks.

welcome 1953ihc...

e-bay can be your friend....shop around, you might find them cheaper...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Works-Connection-Frame-Guards-15-135-Kawasaki-/351437543243?fits=Model%3AKX500&hash=item51d34f574b&vxp=mtr

for the bar mounts, I myself would decide what brand of fatty bars I was going to run, and use their oversized mounts, as most brands sell them as a kit....whether it be Renthal, Pro-Taper...etc.

a list of black plastic...

I think you're only gonna find Maier has black side plates, unless you want to pay big coin for a black
UFO kit to be shipped internationally...

just the UFO side plates...

If I had the extra coin, I would add this to the collection, starting at $350.

Okay, thanks.
The side panels in black from Maier I will check on. Got the rest of the plastic figured out.
These bikes are just old enough now that it seems like parts are kind of hard to get. Guess I was spoiled with my Banshee.
Any suggestions on foot pegs? Not liking the tiny worn out broken spring ones the bike.came with.
Any carb suggestions?  42 mm maybe? Carb boot?
Would post a few pics but couldnt figure out how.
Thanks again.

here's a good thread on a preferred brand of pegs...

http://www.kxriders.com/forums/index.php/topic,14233.0.html

I'm currently running a 41 taper bore PWK that I'm happy with...it took me quite a while to get it jetted to where I like it. I spent a few hours changing needles-pilots-mains this past weekend, and got it where I'm REALLY happy with it now....but if I were to buy another carb, I'd go Lectron next time...

Boy that thing has been for sale forever.  I'll bet he would take just about any offer right now.

I'd ask for the VIN# also....because that thing's sportin 2000 swing arm decals and seat...'01 seat is black with the "KX" logo, which is on my bike right now, and the '01 swing arm decals are completely different than the ones on that roller...which should be good for at least $100 deduction...

this is an '01...

this is a '00...

Yes, good call, check the VIN # for sure.  Oklahoma did not title off
road vehicles until 2005.
