bored kids on dirtbikes
« on: June 23, 2015, 04:25:23 PM »

sorry i dont have any better pictire to post along with this little story of mine. but the story itself is better than a pocture a person would doubt ,just the same. . ok i grew up in gerlach nevada. blackrock desert home of the burning man(which ive never attended). well when i was 8 years old i got my 1st motorcycle i ever rode myself. id seen my dad on his bultaco360 doing barite tails hills climbs ,and rode on the back with him a time or two ..but my ownl little piece of freedom. long story shortened ,as i said i grew up in gerlach nv,.if i wasnt at the swimming pool, hunting horned toads,in school, or sleeping ,i was riding the desert of gerlach nv in my little rm 60. along with a few friend that had their own bikes. mine was the smallest in displacement ,but youd never know it. that little bike WENT. well one of my friend's and i that rode together all the time got bored one day and saw some birds(sparrows) that seemed to just be content in an area of the desert that my friend and i knew the boundaries on all sides where the terrain was less than that of scattered sage brush in crusted dry lake bed dirt. i dint know how it began but we found that if you would scare up a sparrow  and stay locked on that one sparrow even when it landed and scared him up again that eventually you could wear out the bird catch up with him and knock him out of the air when he struggling to maintain flight trying to escape right in front of your handlebars. yes you heard me right . when i was a 10 year old kid i found a spot in the desert i knew well enough i didnt have to pay attention to anything other than the bird and the throttle while i wore em out and knocked em out of the air with my clutch hand. sure quite frequently they would fly outside that perfect dirt and light brushed area i knew well enough to just gun it and burn the turn so i could get the bird back in the air when they were fresh and landed . but believe it or not thats what i liked to do when i was a kid on a dirtbike. wear out a bird and slap em out of the air. no bulls**t men.....
hell ,i,m so broke . if it cost a nickle to take a s**t, id have to puke.....

 :-D :-D :-D

You're a man who'll believe this. Birds have a thing for me on a bike. Don't have clue what it is but even tonight I had a nighthawk test me.

Had one bird 2 weeks ago on the klr right into the radiator.

Nother one a couple years back , up the arse dead on the # plate.

A few months before that , flying right in front of me & splat under the front tire.

Not s**tting at all , I think they try to fly with me ??? On the dirt lanes between towns I really have to pay attention , one of these days I'll have bird in my teeth. I'm not looking forward to it

I get there's something to it
if I only had a pair, I could actually ride this thing

& to the people I like  FYYFF

well thats not the same scenario exactly. but its the same general idea.i got one closer to your style as well. i was at florence oregon dune in a 91 kx250 and you get out of the dunes at this campground we were at and it turns into beach over a little hill dune thing. so i see an eagle out on the beackh eating the fish he had just brought in. so no second thought and im wide open sand paddle on back ,and im gonna get that bird ...focused  getting closer and the bird already started up the momentum for flight. wasnt about to give up the fish though. i didnt get but right maybe 5 feet from that bird about eight feet in the air and drops his fish and it blows up all over the front plate my face the helmet. bird got away ....barely.... well i have to give bird the respect for knowing how long he had to get his ass in the air. didnt account for the fish.
