1991 kx125 ignition
« on: July 09, 2015, 11:58:49 PM »
Hi everyone I am after some advice or wisdom from you !

I was reading an article by Eric gore saying to put a 1990 igniter on a 1991 kx 125 to improve the power curve to suit motocross riding

Has anyone done this or tried any other ignition systems from other year bikes to improve performance please

I haven't with your bike but I have on others.
To see what is happening in part, look in your manual and see what the specs are for the CDI.
For instance here is the specs for a kx500:
19 deg BTDC @ 6000 RPM
Compare both years of KX125's and you may see a difference that could give you a better idea.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Thank you  I know my Ignition Timing is 22 degrees BTDC at 11000 RPM

What should I look for to try and improve it as I am a complete novice
