piston ring end-gap oversized cylinder
« on: May 24, 2015, 06:07:13 PM »
I have an 03 KX125 that I have a new oversize (56mm) cylinder going on it with a Wiseco piston. Proper ring end-gap is my concern. For the stock bore diameter the end gap specs are 0.35 -0.55mm. What I am wondering is,since my new cylinder is 2mm oversize, would I need to adjust my rings end-gap for any reason? I can`t put my finger on the reason its bothering me,it seems like it should be the same but I might not know something I should. Anybody?

The replacement piston should have ring end gap specified. You could probably get your answer from contacting the piston manufacturer. Are you replacing the cylinder or is a cast iron liner being installed?

What brand piston.  They should give you an equation for what gap to run to bore ratio
