Anyone every put a 2005 cylinder on a 2006 kx 250?

The part numbers are different (but similar) between a 2005 and 2006, but the parts diagrams look very similar.  I think maybe Sandblaster might have some good information on what years fit what bikes for sure.  Perhaps if we offered him beer and t-bone steak he will make an appearance.   :-D

Unfortunately I have never tried it.
According to Kawasaki
CYL ID 0027 - FITS 05 KX250  11005-0027 BORE 66.40 STROKE 72MM
CYL ID 0054 - FITS 06-07 KX250 11005-0054 BORE 66.40 STROKE 72MM
The exhaust valves are the same.
Side exhaust valves: FITS 05-07 KX250 - 12005-0019
Center exhaust valve: FITS 05-07 KX250 - 49116-0007
HEAD: 0034 FITS 05-06 KX250 - 11001-0034
Gaskets: FITS 05-08 KX250
FRONT EXHAUST VALVE COVER: FITS 05-07 KX250 - 14091-0217
EXHAUST VALVE COVER RIGHT: FITS 05-07 KX250 - 14091-0215
I see no reason why it should bolt right on but then again I have never tried it  :-(
I know that there are people on this site that know for sure..

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

It will swap , just because the number different doesn't mean it wont work ,there could be a slight casting difference somewhere I don't know,i had these 2 different machine and the cylinder looks the same , I would swap them no worries but I would check squish clearance just in case , the 07 head is a different part number to and can be used on 05 and 06 bikes , has less compression , this I have done, we machine the thickness of a base gasket of the bottom of the cylinder than modify the head to suit than use a 03 shim in the powervalve  as well as porting to get some more bottom end power back with out scarifying top end power , it works.
