1986 KX500 After market exhaust

I want to put a new pipe on my bike. Am wanting a Pro Circuit or maybe FMF. The problem is they don't list an 86 or 87. They all start at 1988-03. That's most parts. Why is the 86 no listed? So question is ....Will the pipes for 88 and newer models fit my 86?? It appears to me that they will...but would like to be sure before making the purchase. Anyone no for sure?? Thanks

yes a newer pipe will work...but you will have to do some simple modifications to get it to fit good...
