That's a load of
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

it happened here in Plymouth in '99...almost exactly the same law.
all it took was an angry Town Selectman that got sick of hearing a dozen 250 2T's on the pipe, abutting his property on a daily basis....so yeah, it could happen there too.

Basically/technically it's against the law for me to ride my 250 in my own yard....I'm not "supposed" to ride anything over 5HP on my own property.

310 B- "The landowner/lawful occupant shall not permit anyone to operate the aforesaid off road motor-driven vehicles or conveyances so as to constitute a nuisance."

Gee, that isn't wide open to 'anything' they want it to mean.

there's one town just outside of Boston that put a ban on leaf blowers and weed whackers last year...$5K fine if you get caught using one....residential or commercial.

Yep... Nobody can stand to see others having fun so lets bypass all this bologna and ban having fun.
And while we are at it, if we catch someone having fun, lets fine anybody but the people having fun  :x

haha...

on the plus side, as far as dirt bikes go here in Plymouth...the law doesn't get enforced that much....because there needs to be complaints from surrounding neighbors/businesses. Without complaints, the cops could really care less...unless they see you causing a safety issue, such as roosting dirt into the street in front of your house...and if I remember correctly, it's $2500 fine.
I don't ride on my own property, as I only have just under 2 acres, and I have commercial buildings on either side of me...but I do ride right out my back door.

So your law has been around since '99? Wow. That sucks. Ok if they do not enforce it 'stupidly' I guess, but the law is still there for the using.
Have a friend in a 'growing expanding' local area that owns a long time family owned pig farm. Contractor built a load of houses next to his property then took him to court to force him to stop the farm. My buddy won but it cost some money.
Pacific Raceways has had an on going battle since the 60's as the property next to it was dirt cheap and they built a crap load of houses then petitioned to stop racing, stop racing at night (after $20K in night lights were put in) and/or restrict days of operation. IF YOU DON'T WANT DRAG STRIP OR ROAD RACE NOISE DON'T MOVE NEXT TO ONE!!!!!!!!! Good grief.
While I understand the concept of 'urban sprawl' and growth it still is an infringement of the rights of a property owner. Pisses me off.

well said!...
I don't want to mislead anyone...the cops do bust dirt bikers all the time around here, but it's more confined to "trespassing"...such as riding in the power lines or sand pits, rather than being busted on your own property.
I hear ALL kinds of dirt bike complaints on the police scanner on the weekends. :x
