What should I build?
« on: February 20, 2015, 01:08:47 AM »
One of the reasons I joined KXRiders is for the collective wisdom that everyone has.  I need to call on that wisdom for some advice.  I recently purchased a 1988 K5 engine and goodies that I had planned to put in my 2007 KX 250.  It's a really nice bike that used to be my primary scoot before I found my 2004 KX 250.

On the plus side, it's a steel frame that I can weld on and it's a larger frame that should be easier to get the engine into.  On the negative side I stole the Tusk wheels and the Factory Connection suspension for my 2004, the 2004's suspension that I swapped on to the bike is terrible, and it was never a great handling bike to begin with.  Should I:

Build the 2007 and not worry about sharp handling, instead concentrating on not killing myself?

Build the 2007 all out and put later model suspension and nicer wheels on it?

Sell the 2007 as a whole bike and find a 2003-5 KX?

Find and build a later model AF?

Put the motor in a later model KTM (that's hard for me to even say)?

What say ye, o' wise sages of KXRiders?  I feel like a K5 motor is a rare jewel that should not be wasted.

Put the motor in a later ktm 07/12 {not a fan of the latest ones}
The later af seem to be alot of work
