Hi to all,  I just bought my first KX.  An "01 250.  I am just now getting to know the bike and one of the first things I want to do is pull the cylinder and take a look at the bore (I don't know the history of the bike other than it was not raced)  Any suggestions as to other things to look at.  The bike seems to run great and other than a big dent in the pipe it is is good condition.  Any advice to a new guy would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Welcome. I would look for flaking or sorce marks in the bore and over all condition of the piston(blow by at the rings). I would also lube the suspension bearings, change fork oil and shock oil, lube cables, change trans oil. Just give the bike some TLC.

Good advice above, and the lower shock/linkage bearing needs the most attention, check to see if its worn and grease often. Also get a few air filters (I like Twin Air) so you have a clean filter at all times, check the foam on the old one for tears or if its falling apart.Oh yeah,Welcome!
