Gone to Kermit Dunes!
« on: March 23, 2005, 11:12:27 AM »
Heading for Kermit Dunes in the morning, going to ride Friday and Saturday!

I will be shooting some Video with my helmet Cam! There is an area over across from the main dunes that is like a role E coaster real tight  up and down and lots of on and off camber turns! I really want to shoot  some Video there!

Catch up with you next week!

Are there any IT related vacancies in the neighbourhood?

Nice pictures. It looks so sterile, but I guess that is one of the features of a desert..?

You are mighty lucky to be able to use this playground. Is it legal to ride vehicles there? The reason I am asking is that it is not legal to use an off-road vehicle anywhere (to my knowledge) in Europe unless you have a permit from the land owner or there are trails which are for explicit off-road use. These trails gets so used (read abused) that they are not really a joy to ride. You do get some good practice though. Alternatively, you take the bike out in the rough and take the risks of getting caught.

I live in England now (that?s Europe for you Americans) and this really is a country packed with people and all the land is owned by someone. It is hard to find anyplace to ride here. Sweden, where I used to live, is much less densely populated and has more opportunities for good places to ride. Anyway, what I can see on these pictures is nowhere to be found here in Europe! Or maybe it is, and I just don?t know about it?

John, most of the really popular places to ride these days, like the big dunes in California you do need permits, equipment must pass sound level test and other requirements like flags even on bikes as well as 4 wheelers. They also require minimum of helmet and other rider safety gear.

I live in El Paso Texas and there is lots of places to ride around here and I have friends up in Minnesota that also have lots of trails to ride year around.
There are many states with densely populated areas that have the same problem as you in the UK.  There are states like Utah that recognize how popular the off road sports are and are capitalizing on the popularity.

So I guess some of us are really lucky having many choices on where we can ride!
