Crank seals - Cometic OK, or use stock?

I got some Cometic crank seals a while back and am wondering now whether I should have just got the OEM crank seals instead (if still availalbe).    I read Cometic have excellent gasket sets, but how are their seals?   Ok to use, or should I track down some OEM crank seals instead?

I've used both the nitrile Cometic crank seals (can handle ethanol-laced pump fuel if there's a possibility it might make it into the tank) & OEM (primarily). Durability is about the same unless you're using pump fuel with ethanol, then you should be using the Cometic nitriles.

Last few OEM ones I have seen were so old and hard you'd be dumb to run them.    Cometic date codes then so you know how old they are.

Age of the OEM seals is something I hadn't considered.  Good points.  Sticking with the Cometics.

All OEM kx5 crank seals i have seen seem to be pretty hard, new and old ones i have removed,
Maybe that just the way there meant to be?

I like Cometic over stock just because of the date.
if I knew the date of the stock seals I would use them just as well.
No date? Not going in my bike as I keep them for many years.

I went with Cometic crank seals.  Buggered the output/sprocket shaft seal so I ordered an OEM just for kicks.
