Newbie looking where to start
« on: November 26, 2014, 02:59:32 AM »
First post, I am interested in building a 500 at some point in my life. I am not opposed to using a KX chassis for the conversion but have always ridden Yamaha. My question is, has anyone ever put a KX500 in a YZ 250 (2 stroke) chassis. Either 2002+ steel or current aluminum?

Thanks

Why don't you just go with the ESR kit?

I am not convinced that the ESR kit is a route i want to go yet. I want to build this bike for endurance ice racing, so a strung out Frankenstein engine is the best option. A stock 5-hundo though would be more than enough.

Does anyone know the story on this?

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

How do you find the ESR kit?  Has anyone had experience with it?  I have a 500 engine that is dying for a home.
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?

Sorry, I see that it's a big bore kit for Yamahas.
