2002 KX500

Hello.

It's time to introduce myself.  My name is Kevin.  I purchased my 2002 KX 500 in Sept 2004.  I also own a 96 RMX 250 (have to have something to putt around on with my 8 year old).  I had/have a goal to run the Vegas to Reno BITD race, so I thought I should either upgrade my RMX or get a new bike that can handle the task.  I noticed I was winding out my RMX too easily, so upgrade was the ticket.  After investigating the XR650 and the KX. I chose the KX.  Never looked back.

After all the investigation I was worried the 500 would be too much... but that wasn't the case for me.   Oh..let me qualify that..I am 6'4" 235lbs.   What was I doing with anything else!

So, to practice, I entered two enduros last year and didn't do so good.  This year isn't off to a great start either.  I need more seat time and conditioning.

So, in the past 8 months, I have been trying to "bullet proof" my bike for my "goal" of racing BITD. May never happen, but, have to have something to work for.

So I will try to contribute to the site where I can.  Sure wish they didn't stop making these bikes.  One day, it will be hard to find parts for...

Going to start some other topics and maybe even review an item or two.

Thanks to everyone who has posted here...  I probably have read almost everything and it was a great resource in the purchase of my bike and continues to be a good resource for the KX.

Kevin
