« on: March 12, 2005, 11:35:57 AM »
Hey guy's need ya'll help. Look at my 87 500 in a.hughes 87kx500 gallery and tell me what color of rims would look great. I am thinking about blue, black or green. Does anybody run Pro-Wheel rims :?:

I would say either blue or black. Blue would give you a good ballance between the amount of green and blue already on the bike, and I think the black is just a better idea than green. So my vote is for blue.

mjscore, Timbowe, That black looks tuff on mjscore's bike. But he has a lot more black trim. Blue just keeps popping in my mind but it's hard to tell until the rims are mounted. Mjscore who is TCR Wheels? Pro-Wheel is putting together a quote for stainless nipples and spokes with rims this week. Mjscore that 86 500 looks pretty good. Ever thought of re-storing it ?

I've seen a KX500 with blue rims before. The only difference was that it was a 93 I believe, which have blue anodized fork tubes from the factory so it looked really good. I think your bike would look good with the blue because of the blue fork covers and seat cover.  Black would look good on any Kawi,  because of the contrast with the green, but I personally think that the freestyle guys have played out the black rims.  But as far as color balance, and uniqueness, I think the blue is better for your particular bike even though I'm sure the black would look decent.

Blue it is. This will be a summer project with the rims. As I restore this old bike I am trying to keep the factory 87 look for plactic's, graphic's and the seat. Then I want to add just alittle bling. Has anybody used pro-wheels rims before or heard anything about them?

I've never heard of 'em, which doesnt really say much or mean anything. Do they have a website?  Its worth checking out I'm sure. Especially if they have good deals.  Maybe if they offer a warranty of some kind then you really have nothing to worry about or lose.  If they stand behind their product its probably a good one.

Huges;

If your just going for the "look" and want to save some $$$
Look up your local plater.
Then ask him how much for a strip, and re-plate of the color your
looking for?
You may save some dallors doing it like that.
That is, if your just going for the sweet look?

O!
BTW; your cost on just to plate shoule be around $65 for both wheels.
And under, or around $100 to have them stripped, and re-plated!!!

You can have them stripped, then polish them your self.
Then re-plate (Hard anodize) for a sweet A$$ super shine!!!!!!
Would look BAD A$$!!!!

Or our you looking for a brand???

TCR Wheels is locatedin Lodi, CA There web site is wheellacing.com. They have done wheels for alot of racers even Mike La Rocco.   I did the racer pack w/stainless spokes for around $500.
I sold the 86 for my 94.
