CAD drawing of the 87-88 KX500 power valve

This may be a great way to get a handle on reproducing power valves for an old KX:

Which valve is that right or left? Did you make that file?

I'm hoping within a year or less we will have our shop built and have all the tools to make some parts for these old bikes. Power valves are on top of the list.
It's hard to keep a drivers license riding a 2 stroke dirt bike on the street.  If you drive within the law they are VERY boring.

For some reason I was thinking the gear was smaller diameter on one of them. Maybe that was my 87 250??

the 87 250 has two different valves one is like a mirror image of the other so its backwards and the gear is larger too.

the 86-87-88 valves did have steel and aluminum versions, they also had different port dimensions. I have both here if you want measurements

I know why it is squished.... :-D

If you post a link to a 7.569 Terabyte sized pic, this site will try to reduce the size.
The results can be interesting

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Roostius,
Just curious how many different styles of operating rods you've come across for the 86-88's ?
I've got three different ones and have always been interested in finding out how many different rods exist.
I was also wondering if you have ever come across a set of steel valves on an 86 model?, I only seem to find them in 87's and 88's

I only have the 2 models shown, I think they are an 86+87 set from what sandblaster and I have discussed. One cylinder has the relief channels above the auxilary ports and the other does not. One has the shouldered crankshaft and the other does not. I don't know which set belonged to what, I bought a box of 3 engines and they were all in pieces.
