Dirty 5 @ Mt Sommers.
« on: February 20, 2005, 07:36:02 PM »
I must admit as to being nervous about taking the dirty 5 to the hills! The sand and wide beach area is a little different to the tight gnarly back block tracks of N.Zs south island. So after a coulpe of nervous pisses I was off.    Woo hooo! What a ball I had. The 500 went like a dose of salts! Only  got past by one crazy young hoon on a KTM Something. I like to ride fast but I need to work on monday as well. There was probably 150 riders on all sorts of machinery ranging from old farm hacks to lasest weaponary available. Very impressed with the K5s handling/power and flickability in the tight stuff. Great fun letting ya mates have it when they got a bit close to you in the bog sections! Had a boomin day. Cant waait for next sunday, another organised ride. Got no more need for the KDX now. Its for sale. 200 just dont cut it no longer. No going back now! Hopefully I can find an 03 04 Kx 500 to trade it in on. Fingers crossed. 2 dirty 5s, 1 dirt , 1 motard.  What a beatifull world.    Tim.

Yeah Good track. Bit of every thing Steep up hills/ down hills. fast grassy flat out drag paddocks, rocky river bed slow going tight tech stuff. Heaps of farmers single lane tracks. About 30 km loops. taking around 35 minutes. Great stuff indeed. Nice old hut been rebuilt around old fire place. Swing bridge over a river to get to long drop.[s**t house] No good at night.
