and this is how it sits as of 9 this morning....

I'm postponing the black rear fender for the moment...I kinda like it like it is...then next weekend I fit it up and see how it looks.

thanks bens!...I think so too.
I've actually decided to keep the green rear fender, I even have a new green rear on the way to keep things uniformly new.
I remember seeing a pic of some ones '00 KX250 with black side plates and black rear fender, and I liked how it looked...so that's where the black fender is going.

I decided to use my original rad shroud as the EVO shroud decal fits it perfect.  Any pointers on repairing the small corner bit that is missing?  I was thinking of fiberglass but not sure if it will hold up to the impact as it doesnt bend as much as the plastic.

zip-ties make great stitches.

We call those Frankenstitches,,
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

yup...and they work like a charm!....I actually have an old rear fender laying around from my current 250 that I broke from looping out doing wheelies going down the sand pit hills that we climb here, that I stitched up until the new one arrived.

to do that correctly, it has to be cut/modified to fit the 500....then if I don't like it...it's useless for the 250.
I just think it would be too much black.
I like variety...like the pigs I sleep with

looking at the pic again and yes the black rear fender would make the seat and fender look as one.  I like it mixed up a bit too.

so the 250 is under way of blackening...I just ordered more graphics from EVO, black shrouds, front # plate, fork sliders, and front fender...all black.

I'll get black wheels with gold hubs too, but probably not til the Spring at this point.

So I've been talking with Frank over the past couple weeks, he's agreed to make me up some oem replica decals for my 250 & 500.
He just informed me today that it's going to be a little longer than expected...because he's also been talked into doing the USA team of Trampas Parker...Dubach...Dehoop...and Dowd!!...for this years Vet MX Des Nations at Farleigh this coming weekend. Dowd will be on board the '89 KX500 again too!
So we should be seeing the event uploaded on YouTube shortly after 8-)
