Hello and welcome to the forum lordofhurley.
There is little difference between 89-04.
Some stator/flywheel changes in the early 90's but can run any year of stator/flywheel as long as the stator/flywheel match.
The 93 and older engines used a smaller spline on the end of the shift shaft, and a smaller spline on the shift lever to match. But there again you can run the newer or older shaft as long as you use the matching lever.
Other then that, they are the same from 89-04
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

I think the last half significant changes to the motor was the stator in about 92.
Between 03 and 04 its just possible that they changed the stickers on the shroud?

Another way to look at it...I just replaced the ENTIRE bottom end of my 95, minus the flywheel/stator plate and engine cases. When I ordered everything, I just used the 04 to get all my part#'s/parts.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

I always do the same. Unless I'm looking for older parts like the older kips arm I run.

Older KIPS arm you say?  What's the difference and what year bike is it off?
How is it more suited to your needs?

Just wondering like...

there's a thread that shows the arm he's talking about...if I get time I'll try to find it and post it....if I remember correctly, it's in the Jeff Ward Motor Round 2 thread.
