A desert dirty KX is a happy KX

Your dunes are small

Yep... but low traffic if you exclude the Jack rabbits, Antelopes, and Coyotes

What were your temps now??

Through the roof... comparatively speaking...
Air temp 80 deg.. don't know the humidity
Average head 270F
Average coolant after cooling 145
Max head 290F
Max coolant after cooling 205F

More on this later....

The differences between this time and the time previous were as follows.

Bike
Stock engine
Chinese rads
55 pilot 168 main (Too rich)
PC pipe
fmf arrestor

Elevation 4317ft
Last years Christmas Valley temps:
Air temp 100F
The max all time temps were as follows:
Head 224F
Coolant 202F
Average running temps trail riding 2nd to 4th gear:
Head 185-195
Coolant 165-175
50/50 green stuff

This time..

Bike
Semi Stock engine (Stock timing and porting)
Larry modded head (Love my compression release)
Wossner windowed piston
stock rads
41mm carb 58 pilot 168 main (I believe it was really rich, I'll know more in a few days)
PC pipe
fmf arrestor

Elevation 4317ft
Last years Christmas Valley temps:
Air temp 80F
The max all time temps were as follows:
Head 290F
Coolant 205F
Average running temps trail riding 2nd to 4th gear:
Head 260-270
Coolant 145-155
100% Engine Ice

The air temps were 20F cooler but my head temps were much higher then I have ever seen them.
Coolant temps were a little cooler this time over last time which seems right based on the air temps.
I noticed that the head temp was very responsive to throttle usage.. Much more so then previously.
Next I will try 50/50 green stuff and see how it reacts..

I'd probably never leave.
I remember my parents traveled the west coast in 07 I think...and they both decided if they ever sold their house, that the Oregon coast was were they'd live out the rest of their lives.

The sand was extremely horse power robbing.
I have rode in the sand since 1977 and I have never seen it this loose and power robbing.
Good thing I ride a bike with a lot of power 8-)

It's never good when you see this and realize that you know the person..
Especially a 25 year old mother of two who endowed her Warrior 350 and was ran over by it...

Getting hurt out in the middle of nowhere is real bad...
