Shifer shaft
« on: April 06, 2014, 12:10:32 PM »
Sorry for asking all these silly questions.  I'm not having a good spring.  Too many toys apart needing too much attention and nothing wants to work.  Here' the latest woe.

Finally got the kickstart spring fixed.  Got the water pump pretty much assembled.  Though it does slightly rub the cover.  But NOW, the cover won't sit flush because it's hitting the shift shaft.  I had a local yayhoo build the bottom end.  I suppose he got a bushing in wrong or a gear in backward?

Any chance this is an easy fix or will the cases need to be split again?

There is a collar that goes over the shaft and fits inside the sliding portion of the shifter, if it comes out of the groove it will do what yours is doing

So with the RTV, is it a guaranteed leaker?  I can't believe the guy did that but by the time I got the thing back, I was just glad to see it in my possession.
