whats the stupidest thing you've talked someone into doing?
« on: March 26, 2014, 10:13:19 AM »
As the title says.
Mine was- I get my 10 tear old son ( a computer geek ) to mow the lawn at home but I have to restart the mower every time that the catcher is emptied, well he was half way through cutting the back lawn and i gave the cord a pull and it broke, i let out a few words and stood there thinking, my son asks if i can fix it and i tell him "no, i dont have any cord". I stood there scratching my head for a while and had an idea I tell him " I think it might be possible to Push start the mower but you will have to do it because it has to be done with a bit of pace and i'm getting to old and my knee slows me down"
He said he will give it a go, I told him to wait for me to get my phone so i can video it because " no-one will believe me that you push started the mower so i'll video it to prove them wrong"
"yep, OK do it Dad" he says.
I start the camera started and direct him to go to the top of the yard and run down hill as its easier that way, so he gives it a go but no luck.
" Go back up and run faster I tell him" he does, no good.
" No faster I tell him", so up again he goes down he comes flat out, no start.
" Did you turn the fuel on, prime it and use the choke?" he checks " It looks alright to me" he says
I did this a couple of times more to him and the poor little bugger had sweat poring off him.
He was just about to give up, we were standing there looking at the mower wondering what else we could do. Thats when I told him "there was a very good reason why the mower wouldn't start".
" why's that Dad? "
"Because its impossible to push start a mower, mate"
He storms off calling me a "dumb ass"
I piss myself every time i watch the video, i should put it on you tube..

You should post it, that would be hilarious.

When my son was 8 I convinced him that he was only born with half a brain.
After calming him down I explained that in most cases the kids never know the difference because the other side of the brain takes over the functions normally handled by the other side of the brain.
After all you get good grades and have lots of friends so what's the big deal?
So he asks me what is in the other side of his head.
I told him that when he was a baby the doctor filled it up with a gel and as he gets bigger the brain fills up the space with natural body fluid.
So I tell him that I since he is 8 that i figured it was time he knew and he should tell his mom that he knows so that she can stop hiding it from him.
We get home from the store and my son walks up to his mother and says, "Mom, it's ok, I know."
My wife says, "Know what?"
He says, "I was born with half a brain."

We still laugh about that even though he is 14.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

tell your son, that I have found the other half its living in my sons head he only has half a brain too.
I had to come home from work yesterday to get something and i caught him just about to start the mower ( no not push starting ) i looked down and found he had put straight unleaded in to my 6 month old 2 stroke mower.  :x
I'm thinking he will probably end being some kind of brainiac that or another Rain Man.

once i saw a guy that tried to push start his bike, because it would not starting by many many kicks...  he pushed it up a hill and dont started. he said to me : wow thats hard work to push-start a bike... i smiled and said: pull the clutch , then would be much easier! .. and he did and pushed again up the hill...
after his next few tries i went to him and asked, if he would need some help?
then i saw that his petcock was closed all the time...  so i said to him, that i have magical hands and can start any kind of 2strokes...
he was stunning and said, that he want only believe it if i do it immediately...
so i opened the petcock , layed the bike to the side for flooding the carb and it was running after 2 kicks...   :-D
i will never forget his stunning face... and i never told him of his closed petcock .that was to funny..
