I sent the ebay seller a request for the basket weight.
It will be interesting comparing that to a stock vs Hinson basket.

My buddy runs one in his 2009 or 10 KXF450 and hasn't had any problems that I know of, I think it's been a little over a season that he's been runnin it.
But I've also heard guys say negative things too, that they don't last....all ya can do is try one out and see how it does for your type of riding. The clutch abusers will burn through em quicker than the leisure riders.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

You can machine cast parts.

Then why would they not list it as cast.  Listing says machined from aircraft grade aluminum.  Should be better than the pot metal piece they come with, I would think anyway.

I spoke to a guy Hans from proX last summer.   I was making an inquiry about the K5 baskets.  I told him any vendors I dealt with were telling me the K5 baskets proX  made were cast similar to oem. He replied and ensured me tge are "not" casted and are machined billet baskets.  If I still had the email id copy and paste it for you to read.  He actually seemed concerned that I said vendors/distributors in north america claimed they were casted.  I told him to check out item #'s and ebay vendors for himself.  True story here.

I was surprised to see you talking about this very issue

Then the question remains... What is the surface hardness of the tangs, and how deep does it go?

The listing states "Hard Anodized"....It is my understanding that you can not do that to cast parts.

It's difficult to hard anodize cast aluminum with a surface finish of over .0004" with any kind of uniformity.
But there are processes that can be used to overcome those limitations.
But based on what dirk_411 said that may all be irrelevant.
I think someone should buy one and do a severe duty test  :-o

I agree with SB and someone who needs a basket buy one and do a follow up.  I would but in order for me to run the K5 basket I have to demo a stock basket to claim the back gear for my swap.  I have no issues doing that for a proven Hinson

Info taken diret from Pro-X website:

ProX Clutch Baskets are precision machined from heat treated aircraft type aluminum alloy to O.E. precision standards. Sophisticated hard-anodising guarantees extended life under severest racing conditions. Each kit comes with the necessary hardware to make installation a snap.

    Design
Our clutch baskets are designed to maximize strength through “feature aligned grain flow” and utilizes as-forged features that can only be produced using our precision process. We are able to produce higher mechanical properties and resistance to impact and fatigue.

    Made from Aerospace alloys
Our certified raw materials produce the highest quality finish products.

    Hard anodized
All our clutch baskets are hard anodyzed to produce an ultra tough abrasive resistant surface and ensures a long life of smooth clutch operation through the elimination of wear on the sides of the clutch basket tabs.

    Teflon coated
The special added Teflon coating seals the coating to create a near frictionless surface for the clutch plate tabs to glide upon.

    Installation materials supplied
All our clutch baskets comes with pre-applied thread locker fasteners and an inbus tool.

I had no idea what a inbus tool is so I looked it up.
It's a Hex or Allen head tool.
