Stolen 2000 KX500
« on: March 20, 2014, 09:52:10 AM »
Well..... some thieves broke into my shop last night and got my sand bike
I would sure like it back but don't expect to ever see it again.
I was working on my two piece clutch cover so the clutch cover was still attached by the radiator hoses.
As they were rolling it out, the governor fell out.
So at least I have a souvenir and some pics  :-D
I have posted ads all over Craigslist Oregon.
If you see my bike in New Jersey give me a heads up.
I'd love to take a relaxing trip back east.

These pics were taken before the last rear fender mod..

Here is what I said on my Craigslist ads.

Hello ladies and gentlemen.
After many years of fun and relaxation someone decided that they needed my bike more then I did.
They broke into my shop at 3811 Cross St in Eugene, OR and stole my most favorite bike.
It's a 2000 KX500.
It has many external and unique features that would make the bike stand out.
It also has a host of mods that are not easy to find or even realize unless you have intimate knowledge of the bike.
Below is a list of some external features as well as some pics for you to check out.
I am offering a $1000 reward that leads to the safe return of my bike.
If you have any questions feel free to call me at 541-603-2993

A special note to the thief:
This bike isn't really rare, it's not very new, however, I know every detail on it. So if it ends up on craigslist anywhere in the USA I will see it. If I see any parts from it on eBay I will see them and know that they are mine. Due to the nature of the bike and who I am, many many people know me and what my bike is. So if your riding with other people, your taking a huge risk. Yes, you can grind off the serial numbers and strip it down but there are so many special hand made mods to the engine and other parts that I will know they are mine and you will be caught. Yes, you can spray paint it and put some stickers on it but why waste the time and take a risk of going to jail?
Return my bike, no questions asked, and I'll have $1000 cash to put into your hand.
Thanks.
Mike

WTF!!....I hope you get the mother f**ker(s) and burn em til they die.
I know that horrible gut turning feeling all too well also.

I'd rather get jumped by some thugs, take an a$$ whoopin, and have my wallet stolen rather than one of my bikes/toys.

Thanks guys.
Yes, I am a man of my word and I would hand them 1000 in cash to get my bike back.

On the bright side it gives me a good incentive to finish my AF project or I'll have to put some sand tires on my SM  :-D

My '93 was stolen 6yrs ago this coming memorial day weekend. It was a hard pill to swallow.Had to eventually get over the anger because all I studied was getting somebody. I hope you find yours and the thief, maybe have a "creek bank" trial and conviction.

They would look awesome on your bike.
If it gets parted out, I'd rather you have them then some Dink Winkerson  8-)

To the rest of you, thanks for your help.
You never know, it's probably about 100 to 1 that I would ever get it back but hey, roll the dice and see what happens  :-D

mike...i would look here in germany but i dont think, that it would come here over the ocean (and because i still need a cheap good used k5 engine..)
if the thiev would really come with the bike and to take the 1000,- you and your employees should catch him..and make this tattoo into his face:

 .. i stole mike´s bike and i got 1000 dollar for this tattoo ..

that would be better as 10 years in jail...  :-D
