Im in the process of rebuilding a 198??? kx 500. The bike is am 89 but the cases are 88.
Pinsonault racing told me my crank is an 86.
My bottom end is all together, and seems to operate without a glitch.
When I went to assemble my clutch, I noticed my hub is just about stripped out. -it has 5 springs and 6 splines, so I assume it is 86 as well.
My problem is, my shaft doesent come all the way up into the hub. So I took some measurements.
With all of the washers on and the basket in place- I have 12mm of splines sticking out. But my hub is 17mm deep.
The gear on the backside of the basket is riding about 2.5mm higher than the primary crank gear. But the basket gear just barely clears the starter gear, by maybe 1mm. therefore I cant put a thinner washer against the crank bearing.
Is this normal? or do I possibly have the wrong basket?
