pro circuit valve cover, ever seen one?
« on: February 18, 2014, 12:48:03 PM »
I read an article pertaining to the 1998 kx250.  If I understood the read right, it said pro circuit  made a valve cover with a stop to relieve the over exertion of the flapper valve.  I have no idea if it went to market or was for the factory team only.  The read went on to say kawie that the issue was resolved for 99

Anyone have any firwt hand knowledge or come up with a picture?

I haven't seen any from pro circuit.
I did a google search but didn't find anything.
Is it the right or left cover?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

This was for the KX125...the 250's did not have the problem.

Just found on Eric Gorrs book that the earlier KX's had problems with the power valve over extending and breaking. Pro circuit sold this cover to stop the valve from doing so and breaking

But the cover isn't the stop.

It has a set screw for adjusting it to make it a stop. If you blow up the pic you can read the directions on the package. If you read through this article it will explain also.  http://www.goforwardmotion.com/pdf/2%20stroke%20top%20end%20and%20performance.pdf

I didnt read your article in the link.  Ive read it previous though.   The literature I read was about the kx250, and a center power valve issue with the 98 model which was fixed in the 99 model.   perhaps I misunderstood.  Another member said the issue was with the kx125 and it seemed legit considering PC sells aftermarket valve and cover.  you are referring to the kx250 right?  I tried to google images for the part I thought I read about, no luck

Eric Gorr doesn't distinct 125 or 250 he says the 98 was "plagued with failures" leading up to pro circuit building the cover to prevent over extension
