Lol, I know it's backwards. y'all don't flip your tires around after a couple rides? Seat cover is off. Black one on now. And swing arm decals covering whole swing arm. Better protection. I'm not a fan of OEM.

yes, but the profil on this m12-tire works only in one direction...  :wink:

Well, it works better backwards when the forward edges have been worn down. Flip the tire, now you get sharp edges. It's obviously not better than new, but it's better than a used.

i do this since long times , but with the michelin m12 in backwards direction i had not the right control in small turns.( if you look good you will find out, that the tire has only one direction)... and i´m also not the biggest friend of this tire ...
i learned to love the michelin starcross mh3 on the rear and s12 on the front. with this tire-combo you can ride in all conditions , like sand, mud and hard conditions

Ok, well. It really doesn't make much of difference since I don't race. It's really not as important as you are making it. My bike runs just fine with a backwards tire. Have done it for years and will continue. Thank you for the advice.

Lol, it's pretty much every tire that goes on my bike, will be put on backwards eventually. Haha. On my previous bikes (cr250s), I used dunslop 756s or 739s. Have a good recommendation for the K5?

michelin starcross mh3 on the rear and s12 on the front are my absolute favorites on any bike.   :-D

in the next time, i will test the shinko r525 rear tire in 120-90-19  and maybe kingstyre gt220 for my kx500...  there are no much manufacturers that still offers this size ...

You could write a book about tires. They all have a specific design and purpose, but it generally comes down to...
what type of terrain/soil do you generally ride in?...you don't want to spend $80-$100+ on a tire and have it wear out immediately riding in the wrong terrain than what it was designed for...
I generally ride in very soft and sandy track and trails with the occasional semi hard sprint across a powerline or dirt road in eastern Massachusetts....my 250 has an MH3 on it now, it works pretty good in sandy/soft terrain, but anything remotely hard pack and it sucks.
I decided to try a Maxxis IT on my 500 because a lot of guys highly recommend them on here...but, it has just a couple rides on it, and I'm not happy with it. The knobs are just too close together for my type of terrain, so it just spins instead of hooking up.
So far the tire that works best for my terrain is the Kenda Washougal....as pictured...


it's somewhat similar to the MH3, but the knobs are tall and spaced out a touch more, allowing it to really hook up in the sand and loam....and I've been impressed with how long they last, providing you stay in soft terrain!.
Now, just because me or anyone else suggests a tire, it doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna work good for you...you'll have to do a little "trial and error" until you find one that works best for your terrain.

 ... exactly that is the point.. trying and comparing other manufacturers and finding a cheaper alternative to the mh3 and an good 120 tire for the k5 except the great michelin s12 sand-tire... ( it works in all conditions but on hard tracks you will kill it in only one raceleg.. :cry: ) there are no much manufacturers that still offer 120-90-19 tires...

here in north-germany are many sand and loam-tracks ... loam will be in summer as hard as beton ... than i need a tire that works in the soft sand parts of the track as good as on the dry hard loam sections.and on rainy days too, when it gets slippery in the small turns..   

my favorite allround-tire was the pirelli mt18 , but no more available since a couple of years and the newer pirellis i really dont like since i tried it .
at the moment i have on my 3 bikes tires from 6 diferent manufacturers ...  :-D
