Most all "lean" meltdowns occur at the exhaust side. Your piston looks like a classic " too lean" jetting melt down... I know when I ran an open K&N pod filter on my shifter kart I had to jet up 2 sizes on the main from the stock KX jetting

My guess on what happened to your piston in the "big bore" cylinder is that when you had a coolant leak it went inside and smoked your ring lands on the exhaust side. Probably washed the cylinder of oil and the exhaust is where the heats at. Just my assumption, as I've seen it happen before.
