Me personally have never recieved any credible positive feedback on Ohlins shocks/forks in dirt applications. Especially considering a rear Ohlins shock is about $1K . There is FAR better ways to improve the Kayaba suspension for half the cost..

I loved the ohlins closed chamber set up I races on a 450. I've heard bad things about their open chamber set up though. I got my 500 revalved and resprung buy a guy who knows his schit, Jake Zeman, and its awesome. So plush that I dont feel rocks, yet it wont bottom out or be harsh when I case it on a track.

I was looking on Ebay for a stock shock to replace my worn out shock and I saw a Ohlins kx 500 shock for $100. I bought it but it's probably a older model and if I ever had to rebuild it, I doubt I could find the parts.
Looks sexy as heck, but it really doesn't feel much better than the stocker.

Motorad ask me a question about a ohlins shock.
Short anwser, in holland(were I'm from) they can still make them. Maybe in the US also. Officialy the KX500 shock is out of ?hlins program for 2010.
I only have ridden a normal K5 with ohlins shock. It works perfect!
